Eric Clapton is undoubtedly one of the best musicians to ever create music. He has serenaded us with his calming tone, helped us rock out with awesome guitar solos and created some classic rock ballads. One of the best rock ballads that he ever created was Wonderful Tonight. This song was written in 1977 for his Slowhand album. Wonderful Tonight is a love ballad that was written for his girlfriend at the time, Pattie Boyd.

The Wonderful Tonight that I attached above is from a live performance at an unknown concert. Out of all of the videos that I watched of this song, I felt that this was the best one. This slow melody is extremely soothing. At the time of writing this song, Clapton was inspired by the long amounts of time that it took Pattie Boyd to get dressed before going out. I think this is a universal theme that all guys can relate to. Do you consider this a classic rock ballad? What makes this song so great is that it is a narrative story about a night out with his girlfriend.
